Important side note, it's extremely irresponsible to install and start 
complicated network services, especially when many don't need them (i.e. 
everyone not in the database class).

Microsoft learned this the hard way with Windows 98 and Windows 2000 (count 
how many worms there were in the early 2000s). It's a mistake best not to 
repeat, regardless of how many straw arguments otherwise (VMs typically aren't 
publicly accessible, MySQL is "secure" these days, etc etc).
